Aaliyah Dana Haaughton rose to fame after releasing her first album Age Ain't Nothing More Than an Number in 1994. At the age of 15 the album was awarded Gold standing. The group was strongly influenced by R. Kelly, and made her a star in the spotlight. The year 1996 saw her release her second album One In A Million with Jermaine dupri and Timbaland. The album featured the top-selling single If Your girl only had known. Aaliyah became a well-known R&B singer after the album's release. She was a part of the action and romance film Romeo Must Die alongside martial arts legend Jet-Li. Her role came about when she was spotted by the film's producer Joel Silver at an awards event.
